O'landa Draper attended Memphis State University, where he formed a mass choir (The Associates) that later performed with Shirley Caesar (on "Hold My Mule"), The Winans, Nicholas, Timothy Wright, Myrna Summers, and others. Draper recorded for Word/Epic prior to his death from kidney failure on July 21, 1998, after which his group continued to record and perform under the name O'Landa Draper's Associates. ~ Bil Carpenter, All Music Guide
