The self-titled debut by New York's A Day For Honey encompasses many musical genres -- heavy metal, hardcore, alternative, and psychedelia. And they have the strong songwriting it takes to embellish their unusual song ideas. The ethereal beauty of such spacy early-'90s Brit-pop bands as My Bloody Valentine and Lush are merged with the massive riffs of Helmet and Soundgarden, and it works far better than expected. Kicking things of with a brief atmospheric soundscape entitled "Brilliance of the Sun," it leads directly into "Laserblast," which does a great job of introducing the listener to their sound.
